I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Fitz and the Tantrums on two of their albums. Both were critical successes and it was fun to see 'More Than Just A Dream' become a mainstay album on iTunes and Apple Music commercials for years.
The latest new product from atVenu is 'Register'. A slick new point of sale system designed specifically for live events. Quick and easy to setup, use and sync with your existing account. No more entering inventory, time consuming settlements, or distribution pains. Get Register now.
I worked with the people over at Live Nation and Hulu on branding/visuals/motion elements for their newly announced VR series. The series 'On Stage' features exclusive live VR content focusing on artist per episode. Looks like it's going a great series.
This was meant to be a photo-based inspiration site where Beyoncé could post imagery that ispired her. Clean, minimal and high-fashion were the objectives. Ultimately they chose to go in different direction.
This was a web based intereactive game to promote the 5SoS's new album. Road to Derpcon was a play on the old side scrollers of our youth. I Creative Directed the project including doing the main screen, menus and animating the characters.
Site designed for writer Nicholas Sparks
I had a great time co-directing 'Tunnel Vision' with my compatriots Jeff Nicholas and Jonathan Craven. Working closely with Justin we spent a lot of time casting, concepting, planning and testing projection equipment for the two day bi-coastal shoot. The final product turned out great and it was an amazing experience.
A management app that I designed that allows a centralized location for project discussion, and approvals. This eliminates a lot of the back-and-forth process involved in project communication. A co-worker can quickly ascertain the status of the project, determine where it is in the approval chain and ultimately whether it's been approved or denied.
I helped Creative Direct the design language and page design for the first issue of Animals Magazine. The only California-centric outlaw men's magazine.
Check out the magazine here
Working in tandem with Brandon Parvini from Ghost Town Media and Douglas Gledhill from The Uprising Creative we concepted, created, designed and typeset a visual feast for Linkin Park's fifth album, 'Living Things'.
A selection of cover comps for LAWSONs album Perspective.
Some quick concepts for the poster/cover for the film 'Death For Hire'. These were fun to do but these ideas were never actually used.
This page was designed to be and A-B test between Aftermasters mastering technology and music tracks that were conventionally mastered.
Robb from BRMC and I collaborated on two of their studio albums. He has a very particular vision in his mind for what he wants to achieve and it was fun to work with him on meeting those goals.
I worked with Aaron on the breakout album 'Megalithic Symphony' which spawned the massive hit everyone 'Sail'. This package had all kinds of cool printing techniques: Embossing, glow in the dark ink, spot UV all with a satin finish. Alot of processes that required intense production work, but it was a blast and turned out great.
I was also able to work with him on the follow up record 'Run'.
A cross-section of show posters I've done over the years.
A lot of people think the hard living, hard rocking era of the Sunset Strip meal bands is long over. Not so, Heavens Basement are keeping the tradition alive. It was fun to work on this cover for their album 'Filthy Empire'
A fun intereactive sweepstakes game I designed for Norwegian Cruise Lines. This software piece worked in conjunction with a popup booth at Penn Station.
The biggest challenge directing the video for the single 'Sierra Leone' by the dub step band Mount Eden was the extremely tight budget. I built the glowing 'bag head' apparatus myself in conjunction with the spatial tracking system that I used for the effects shots out of an Xbox Kinect. The video was shot guerrilla style over two sleepless nights in downtown Los Angeles and the Mojave desert. Special thanks to Seth Cudeback and Sean Williams, I wouldn't have been able to do it without them.
Live event merch lines are the worst. The stretch on forever, their debit card machines are flaky and they're always sold out of the item you want. That's were 'Fan App' comes in. The app allows a consumer at a live event to place an order for the merch item they want without standing in line and missing the show. The consumer can then go pick up their prepared item at the booth or elect to have it shipped to their home. Easy.
I helped design a co-branded line with The Uprising Creative and DVS. The line ran the gamut from clothing items, to shoes and patches. In celebration of the launch I wrote and co-directed a greasy web video of a day in the life of our shoes.
Various pieces of artwork for Lobster Fest in San Pedro.
This is probably one of my favorite project I've ever been involved in. I touched every part of it. From the branding, advertising, merch development and video concepting and creative direction. Definitely not for the squeemish and a little tongue in cheek but outrageously fun.
Take a peak at the video, it starts off like any normal day but quickly turns weird... (Warning: Gore!)
Various packaging pieces for Criterion Music.
Various apparel designs over the years.
A couple of posters I put together for the unveiling of the Bob and the Monster documentary about the life of musician and drug counselor Bob Forrest
Collage illustration of guillotine that I created for their album 'Pick Up Your Head'
A screen printed poster I did for Obamas Inauguration
A style frame for branding and motion concept for the awards. Ultimately they never went in this direction.
I wanted to try my hand at some motion graphics and this was the perfect project to jump right in. I storyboarded it out and learned After Effects and then edited it Premiere. Was a steep learning curve but I like the result. A simple fun little video.
